Comments: Reply Kerry, Thanks for the instructions, great detail. I am working on mastering the process. Making the pattern is the easy part, scrolling the picture is another matter. Lots of fun though. Thanks again.

Comments: Reply On two separate occasions, I've had the privilege to have Kerry create two portraits for me. Both portraits were created perfectly. With the second of those two portraits, I was unable to give Kerry very much notice and yet he was able accommodate me without any issues. Not only did he get me out of a bind in terms of a time frame, he also made sure I was able to give the perfect gift at that time. I highly recommend Kerry's work and guarantee I will have more done in the future.

Comments: Reply I beg to differ on the high rating of the DeWalt 788 scrollsaw... other 'cons' include: 1-aggressive cutting action akin to a jigsaw/sabre saw's "orbital" cutting - this is bacause the pivot points are very close to the blade holders, thus the blade goes significantly forward/backward while going up/down - the 'ideal' is a very vertical blade travel and this scrollsaw is about as far from that as one can get. It makes it difficult to cut delicately and breaks the workpiece at delicate points. 2- DeWalt blade holders don't hold blades very well... they 'gloss over' and let blades slip unless frequently roughed up... 3- the lower blade holder is especially irritating because the rotation to tighten the blade also rotates the blade end outward and bends it (only #3 and smaller), causing a 'hockey stick' bend that makes it difficult-to-impossible to thread it through small holes in thick or stacked workpieces.
IMHO, the only real 'pros' for this saw are: 1- 20" throat enables cutting larger projects, and 2- raisable arm allows top-threading, which is convenient tho' not a necessity.
BTW, I agree completely that the lack of any consideration for dust control is a major 'con', as is the price tag they put on their optional light (I know the light is sometimes included, but it is considered an 'option'). I also agree that a foot pedal makes scrolling much easier and safer, but that is regardless of the saw one is using. On a 5-star scale, I'd give it 3-1/2 at most. It is a shame that the market doesn't offer much competition in that price area.
Spence - 1/7/2009 3:59:47 AM, Kerry, Thank you Spence for your comments. I will add them to the reviews page as soon as I can. Happy New Year to you. :)

Comments: Reply Thanks again Kerry, for another beautiful portrait. This one was a gift to my husband's aunt and uncle for Christmas, of her two granddaughters. She always hosts a party on Christmas Eve, with lots of family around, and we asked her to open it while we were there. They both loved it and showed me exactly where they planned to hang it.
Thanks again, I'm sure I'll be requesting another one again sometime in the near future.

Comments: Reply My boyfriend is in the military and currently stationed overseas. I wanted to have something made special for him that he would remember and really appreciate. I contaced Kerry on a MONDAY with my idea of making a "patch" for my boyfriend. Kerry was SOOOO incredibly helpful with everything. He came up with an even better idea than I had. By WEDNESDAY of the same week he had already completed the project and had it in the mail on Thursday! I was thrilled with the quality! Kerry does awesome work, and I have already thought about what I want my next project to be.
By the way, my boyfriend is one of those very umemotional guys generally, however when he saw the patch he thought it was great! He said that it is something that he will keep forever! He loved it, great job Kerry!! Thanks again, it was wonderful to work with you...maybe after he comes back home we will have to have a picture of us done...:) - 8/14/2007 9:57:30 AM, Kerry, Stephanie, you are too kind. It was a pleasure to help you find the right gift for your boyfriend.
I so glad he liked it. Thank you again Stephanie. :)

Comments: Reply Kerry - all I can say is "WOW" :)
Its absolutely perfect and looks incredibly amazing. In a city lacking some amount of... character.. you've certainly added a sense of uniqueness and character to our small home.
Not only did I earn some huge points from the girlfriend, but I even got some bonus points from the in laws I think. ;)
In any case, feel free to post both the original image and the end result on your website, the CTS forums, and anywhere else you so desire, as well as my reference - your work is amazing, stunning and breath taking. There isn't anything like it in the world.
My only complaint is.. How do I outdo this gift next year??? LOL
Thanks again, and I'll be sure to pass your website / email along to any others in need of the same services.
Cheers, Justin
