Portrait Pricing

The prices vary on all the scroll saw portraits I cut and depend on different criteria. 

Among the criteria that affect the cost are:

	-	How many people/subjects/objects does the picture have?  Generally, the more people, etc. that a picture has means more time to create the pattern and the more cutting it will require.  However, this is not always the case.  There are times when a picture with a single person with a lot of detail has cost more than some of the multiple subject pictures I have done.
	-	How much detail is there in the picture?  The more detail a picture has the more it will cost.  This, obviously, is due to the fact that it takes more time to create the pattern and to cut it.  For example, a picture of a child wearing a plain white shirt would cost much less than a picture of the same child wearing a striped or checkerd shirt (or some other intricate design).

These are the most common factors I consider when pricing a portrait.  There may be other considerations as each picture is unique and presents different challenges to overcome to create a pattern and to cut.

Having said all of that, I can give an approximation based on the work I have done so far.  The majority of the pictures I have cut to date range from $60 to $125.  The most common price has been $80 to $100 for a 11x14 inch portrait in the frame.  The frames I use are factored into the cost.  The customer, however, can request just the cut and have the piece framed themselves which would bring my cost down by $15 to $20 depending on what frame was required.

Pattern Pricing

I also design patterns for other scrollers upon request.

The base cost of a pattern is $35 (Canadian) for a 1 subject pattern.  Please add $10 for each additional subject.

Payment

I accept pretty much any form of payment aside from animal furs and dried cod  fish.   See below for a better description of payment options.

Snail Mail: You may send your payment through the mail. I accept personal cheques or money orders. I cannot accept the green US domestic money orders issued by the US Post Office. If you are making an international payment then you will have to use an international money order. Typically a money order from Walmart or Albertsons works just fine. I accept personal cheques from most countries but these have to be made out in the currency of your country ... dollars in the USA, pounds in England, Euros in Spain, Pesos in Mexico, and so on. If your cheque is not from the USA, please use the currency calculator at www.oanda.com to work out the amount due. On smaller items concealed cash is acceptable, but I assume no responsibility for lost cash payments.

PayPal: PayPal is my preferred method of payment.

Email Money Transfer: I accept www.certapay.com payments. If you bank in Canada with the Bank of Montreal, CIBC, Royal Bank, Scotiabank, or TD, you will be able to send interbank-based Interac Email Money Transfers. The fees are low. These payments must be made in Canadian Dollars. Please use the currency calculator at www.oanda.com to work out the amount due.

All items are shipped from Conception Bay South, NL, A1X 6W7, Canada. If you live here in St. John's, you can pick the item up if you want, and there is never any shipping or handling charge on pick-up orders. I will ship anywhere in the world, but the buyer has to pay the shipping. Postage costs vary quite a bit by destination. Many items are listed with fixed shipping and handling charges stated in the listing. All other items are sold on the basis that the buyer will pay my actual out of pocket shipping costs only ... with no "handling" charges or hidden costs. In most cases I will try to put a shipping calculator right in the listing so you will know your exact shipping costs. The costs provided by the shipping calculator can fluctuate slightly from day to day due to the rise and fall in the value of the US Dollar on international markets.

All items are packed carefully to ensure that they are not damaged under rough handling conditions. I always ensure there is at least $100 insurance coverage on all my packages.  I advise the buyer when I have shipped the item and I always follow up with the customer when I think they should be receiving the package.
